Jake Berthot

Never having printed before, Jake's technique developed into a kind of drawing pressed into the paper sheet. A thin plate mark used the ghost as a shadow, giving the sense of a drawing in a window on a larger sheet of heavily sized handmade paper. Jake sat smoking cigarette after cigarette for what seemed hours between painting his plates, deeply concentrating on the next vision that would take form.
