Robert Feintuch is a painter who lives and works in New York. He comes to Bates to teach painting, drawing, senior thesis, and Building a Studio Practice during winter semesters and short term. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries internationally and he has been awarded residencies and fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Rockefeller Foundation, among others. He is represented in Boston by Howard Yezerski Gallery and by Sonnabend Gallery in New York.

In his own work, Feintuch looks for images that are metaphorically and psychologically suggestive. He has made paintings of objects, clouds and a series of self-portraits spanning several years.

Though very much a painter, Feintuch is interested in working with students who investigate a wide range of visual mediums, and a wide range of subjects.
